With a Term Share Certificate (or CD), you’ll earn higher dividends and avoid the temptation to spend the funds you need to save. When you deposit funds into a certificate, the money must stay deposited for a specific period of time. The duration is up to you. During this period, your funds will earn a higher rate of return. If you need access to the funds during that time period, you can make a withdrawal that is subject to an early withdrawal penalty.
